About This Project

Way Down South needed a space that felt authentic, weathered, and effortlessly Southern. The design focused on a Rustbelt Chic aesthetic, using brick, concrete, wood, and steel to create a raw, unpolished look with minimal color.

Hand-painted murals, wooden boards, and signage added depth, while a custom chalkboard menu and street-style signs reinforced the old-school feel. The restaurant’s sign was crafted over four weeks, going through layers of painting, rusting, and distressing to achieve an aged, timeworn look. The result: a space that feels as real as the food.
